What to expect

  • This tool handles CSV, TSV and delimited text, not Excel workbooks. Choose the matching input delimiter and encoding if automatic detection does not fit your file.
  • Short rows are padded with empty values so extra columns are not silently discarded. Duplicate comparisons use the selected columns after optional trimming. The first header row is preserved when enabled.
  • Formula protection changes risky text by prefixing an apostrophe. You can turn it off for an import that requires original text. The tool never executes formulas.
  • Preview cells are shortened for display only. No dates, currencies or number formats are inferred. Review the exported data before importing it into another system; no automatic product import or account connection occurs.

How to clean a CSV file

  1. Choose a CSV, TSV or delimited text file. Check the preview and select the input delimiter, text encoding and header setting that match your file.
  2. Choose the columns to keep and the cleaning options: trim spaces, remove blanks, remove duplicates or compare without letter case.
  3. Choose an output delimiter and select Clean CSV. Review the counts and preview, then download a separate cleaned file.

Common questions

How are duplicate CSV rows identified?

Rows are compared using the selected columns, after optional trimming. You can also ignore letter case. The header is kept separately when enabled, and the first matching data row is retained.

Can I clean an Excel XLSX workbook?

This tool handles CSV, TSV and delimited text, not Excel workbooks. Export the relevant sheet as CSV first, then check its delimiter and encoding in the preview. No automatic product import is performed.

Why does a cleaned value start with an apostrophe?

Formula protection is on by default. It prefixes risky formula-like text with an apostrophe; ordinary negative decimal numbers remain unchanged. You can turn this option off if an import requires the original text. The cleaner never executes formulas.
